A Bespoke Living Wall for a Luxury Product Launch
In 2018, Life on Walls was commissioned by FLOWERBX to deliver a striking temporary living wall for a Louis Vuitton product launch in London. The installation was designed to create a lush green backdrop for the event, enhancing the atmosphere while reflecting the elegance and attention to detail associated with the brand.
The Challenge
The brief required a 4.5-metre-high living wall to act as the central visual feature of the launch. However, the venue did not allow any fixings to the walls, meaning the entire structure had to be completely freestanding.
The timeline was equally demanding. We had just ten days to design and prepare the system, followed by two days to install the structure on site, and only one day to dismantle it once the event had finished.

The Solution
To meet these constraints, we designed and fabricated a custom freestanding support structure off-site before transporting it to the venue.
The system used a combination of braces, counterweights, and continuous PVC planting channels to stabilise the installation and distribute weight evenly. This engineering approach allowed the living wall to remain fully self-supporting while carrying a dense planting scheme.
In total, the structure supported over 1,800 live plants, arranged to create a rich and seamless green surface that framed the event space.

The Result
The final installation delivered a dramatic and immersive backdrop that elevated the entire launch environment. The living wall added texture, depth, and natural energy to the space while meeting all structural and logistical constraints.
The success of the project led to similar living installations being commissioned for Louis Vuitton events around the world, demonstrating the impact that well-designed living displays can bring to luxury brand activations.
