Enhancing a Hotel Façade with Living Architecture
For this project at Hotel Xanadu, Life on Walls was commissioned to revitalise the building’s exterior and strengthen its presence along a busy high street. The aim was to transform a plain façade into a more engaging and visually distinctive entrance for the hotel.
The Challenge
The existing façade lacked visual character and did little to stand out within the surrounding streetscape. At the same time, the installation had to work within very limited fixing opportunities, meaning any new structure had to be carefully engineered to ensure stability without extensive structural intervention.

The Solution
To address these constraints, we introduced a living wall system combined with mirrored stainless steel cladding. The reflective surfaces helped amplify light and greenery, creating depth and visual movement across the façade.
Working within the building’s structural limitations, we designed a secure framework capable of supporting the planting while maintaining a refined and contemporary appearance.

The Result
The completed installation transformed the hotel frontage into a vibrant focal point, drawing attention to the entrance and creating a welcoming first impression for guests.
The combination of greenery and reflective materials not only enhanced the building itself but also contributed positively to the surrounding high street environment, demonstrating how living architecture can elevate urban façades.
